George M. O’Brien Kidney Resource Alliance Opportunity Pool Program

The George M. O’Brien Kidney Resource Alliance (OKRA) offers one-year funding for early-stage or new kidney researchers using OKRA National Resource Center (NRC) resources. This program supports projects that address kidney research questions and excludes clinical trials.

Applicants must contact NRC leadership before submitting and include a Support Letter with their application. Resubmission's from OKRA Round 1 are encouraged. A separate announcement for established researchers will be released later.

NUGoKidney Pilot & Feasibility Program

The NUGoKidney Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) Grants Program supports cross-disciplinary translational research for the identification and successful implementation of novel therapeutics for kidney disease. These pilot funds provide eligible investigators with the support and the resources needed to enhance opportunities for obtaining additional external funds, introduce new disciplines to the field of nephrology, and promote synergy and collaborations among researchers of the NUGoKIDNEY Center and beyond.

NUGoKidney’s P&F Program Mission

  1. Fund research with high translational potential;
  2. Attract new investigators to study kidney disease; and
  3. Enhance inter-institutional collaborations and networking among institutions and industry partners.
